Forums

Camino de Santiago Forum – The largest online community for the Camino. I encourage you to become a member, but you can enjoy the forum without membership. Great search tools and sub-forums. How to join and use the forum. I’ve ordered several items from the store, and I watch Ivar’s live videos fairly often. Visit the resources section for all sorts of information including travel, transport, lodging, restaurants, organized walks, bag transport, and other services.

The Camino de Santiago Forum has sub-forums for several Camino routes: Camino Francés, Routes in Portugal, Santiago de Compostela – The Destination, Routes in Spain, Routes in France, Other walks around the world, Other pilgrimage routes around the world.

Organizations

American Pilgrims on the Camino “The mission of American Pilgrims on the Camino is to foster the enduring tradition of the Camino by supporting its infrastructure, by gathering pilgrims together, and by providing information and encouragement to past and future pilgrims.” I encourage you to become a member. Also, become a member of your local chapter. You can join your local chapter without being a member of the national organization.

Facebook Groups

Just wow. So many. I don’t follow many these days, but here are a few. (I also follow some groups for the Via Francigena, but those will be posted in the Italy section.) Type Camino in the search box for a long list of camino groups.

Camino Sunrise: A Day on a Path This is my private group. You are welcome to join, but must submit a request that I’ll approve. Between caminos, I post my training walks and other general information about caminos, gear or hiking. I post daily when walking a Camino – and copy the post to the blog on this website.

Camigas ~ A Buddy System for Women on the Camino About section: “This is a networking group for women who are traveling on the Camino de Santiago and who want to buddy up with other women for companionship and safety.” There is a spreadsheet document in which you can enter when you’ll be starting and your starting point, but most of the discussion isn’t about finding a “buddy.” Plenty of questions about gear, stages, other general info and also women-specific questions.

American Pilgrims on the Camino About section: “This is the Facebook group for American Pilgrims on the Camino (www.americanpilgrims.org). It is a forum to ask questions and share information, experiences, and feelings about pilgrimage and the Camino de Santiago.” This facebook group is not to be confused with the organization: American Pilgrims on the Camino. I encourage you to join the org which has an annual fee.

Camino Portuguese About section: Let’s walk…Camino Portuguese, 614.5km from Lisbon to Santiago, Spain.
Slow Strollers on the Camino About section: While any Camino enthusiast can join, this is a group for the slow pokes…those of us that don’t see the camino as a race and want to enjoy the walk…it also of those that can’t walk as fast and cover as much km per day!
Vegetarians and Vegans on the Camino About section: The purpose of this group is sharing information about vegan and vegetarian restaurants and albergues and just to help each other to survive on a plant-based diet on the Camino de Santiago, as well as on other pilgrimages around the world.
Cycling – American Pilgrims on the Camino About section: This is the Cycling FB group for American Pilgrims on the Camino (www.americanpilgrims.org). It is a forum to ask questions and share information, experiences, and feelings about pilgrimage and the Camino de Santiago.
