Watch For:
Pamplona – Café Iruña. Visit ol’ Hemingway again.
Pamplona – Restaurant – Beebe recommends Mesón del Caballo Blanco. €15-26.
Zariquiegui – Ideal place to stop for a break before taking on the climb to Alto de Perdón.
Uterga – Leaving Uterga. The path diverges. Can go straight to Obanos or detour to Santa Maria de Eunate. Adds 3km/ 1.9 miles. Beebe considers this the “most stunning church” on the camino and says it’s a must-see. See page 119 in Beebe’s guide.

Warning! Steep descent over rolling rocks. 770m / 2,526 ft.
Puente de la Reina – The 6-arched Romanesque bridge over the Rio Arga was built in the 11th century. Queens Bridge in honour of Dona Mayor, wife of Sancho III. Commanded the magnificent Romaneque bridge to be built to support the safe movement of medieval pilgrims who joined the route at this stage from the Francés and Camino Aragones. The six arches span the Arga.
