Leaving Sahagun – Alternate Route option: DO NOT TAKE the detour: The Via Romana. Follows the old Roman road, but you won’t see much of the Roman road. It does get you further away from the highway. Only adds 1km.
DO TAKE: path to Bercianos del Real Camino
El Burgo Ranero – Lots of frogs here. Early 12th century. Primary industries: pilgrimage, wheat, sheep. Dining Recommendation per Beebe: North side of town near the road that leads to the train station: Hostal Restaurant El Peregrino.
