October 14 Closing a Magnificent Journey
I’ve accepted that I can’t keep walking-probably even if it wasn’t raining. I haven’t kicked this bronchiole infection, and all I’m doing is taking a taxi, maybe or maybe not walking, and repeat. Rather pointless.
So tomorrow I will bus to Santiago.
I still want to see Santiago! I’ll arrive home October 19 instead of October 22. I was so frustrated! So many days of walking and BAM at the end!
But then I realized how lucky I’ve been to have had perfect health and perfect weather since September 7. No blisters. No falls/sprains/tendinitis. Nada.
Tomorrow: Posts and photos from Santiago de Compostela.

October 13 Palas de Rei – Church of Santiago de Alba
Church of Santiago de Alba. Chatted with the priest a bit. Asked him if he got tired of listening to the music coming through the speakers. He thought that was a hoot. Yes!! Then swirled his finger around his head and said it is stuck in his head day and night! He was there to stamp the pilgrim passports.

October 12 It’s all your fault, Dana: And So It Goes
On October 12, 2018 (one year ago yesterday) I met the sister of one of the guys in our coffee group because he said she hiked and I was really wanting to meet some local women to walk with.
At our meeting, she proceeded to talk about walking 500 miles (ok. I was thinking more of a five-mile walk on a North Kansas City trail). Then she said… across northern Spain. OMG, I got home from that coffee date and said, John, I’m gonna walk 500 miles across Spain. He pretty much said, When do you plan to do this?
And so it goes…
