October 14. Morgade

A beautiful walk and so nice to be out of the city. Morgade is halfway between Sarria and Portomarin, with a population of 69 as of the 2023 census. Casa Morgade is a lovely place, reasonably priced with a good dinner if you want a private room. They also have albergue beds. There were a few other albergues coming into the village.

Santiago de Barbadelo church in Barbadelo. The church was originally occupied by a monastery (or convent) from early medieval times, and there is evidence of its existence as early as the 10th–11th centuries. The church in its current form was built in the second half of the 12th century.
The path.
The path.
Not my favorite part of today’s path.
My son, Alex, named this fellow Bob. Bob wanted a treat.
Lots o’ cows. The game of the day was Dodge the Cow Patties.
Along the way.
Also, many chestnuts.
